The Brazilian agriculture, driven by coffee and soybeans, is booming. The month of January 2011 ended with a turnover of 5.1 billion dollars, marking a growth of 26.3% over the previous twelve months.
The agri-food sector Brazil has registered an exceptional increase, as confirmed by the Ministério da Agricultura, pecuária and abastecimento : in January 2011, sales reached $ 5.1 billion, an increase of 26.3% compared to same period of 2010. The trade balance in the agricultural sector is in surplus and represents an increase of $ 800 million compared to January 2010. This is the best performance since 1989.
The positive trend in the last month is drawn primarily from soybeans (oil, flour and grain) and coffee. In particular, soy products have marked the largest increase: the commodity has reached a total turnover of 598.6 million dollars, up 89, 3% on an annual basis.
The export turnover of coffee was also positive, registering an increase of 65.9% in revenue year over year, reaching 595.4 million dollars.
Considering the data on agricultural exports to individual countries, China has almost doubled its imports represents an increase of 94.3% over the last twelve months, going from 8.8 billion to $ 11.1 billion, an increase of 25.5%. Other countries include Algeria (126%), Morocco (108%), Egypt (83.6%), Russia (44.9%), Spain (84.3%), France (46.5%), Italy (42.2%) and Belgium (40.9%).
